Reedbed Filtration
Reedbed Filtration is ideal for remote locations, off grid housing and industrial developments. All waste water treatment involves the bacterial breakdown of biological components, in aerobic conditions. This is true of sewage works, treatment tank systems and Reedbed Filtration Systems.
With more than 25 years experience of planners, environmental authorities, and many types of waste water treatment, we can offer either consultancy help with design and build, or complete build of vertical flow, modulated systems.
Part of our standard build includes living soakaways. These are areas of soakaway planted up with willow and iris to add evaporation to percolation and leaching. The use of living soakaways, allows for final discharge to be to land and not directly to fresh water. This meets with Environment Agency (EA) requirements. We've been doing this since 2004. Living soakaways are included in the price quoted.

• Flows to be a little and often and NOT everything all at once
• Do not allow "Gunk" to smother the reedbed
• For flat land, flows will need to be pumped. A pump and manhole will add £250 to the price quoted
• All Reedbeds can discharge into a Living Soakaway, and not directly into a water course. This helps win approval for the projects.
How Our Consultancy Works
Previously we have installed reedbeds, typically at half the price of alternative and substitute treatment systems.
Being over 65, installing systems has become more difficult. So the idea is for Customers to buy materials, book the digger, and to build the reedbed. I can be there to make sure the reedbed is built as per design, without anyone cutting corners, or adding their own ill advised "improvements".
I can help provide information to help gain "Authority" approval. I can also help in future, should problems arise. An expert is someone who knows what to do when things go wrong.
Reedbed Consultancy Fees Only
Reedbed Consultancy Fees only, is where the customer buys / provides all the materials** and digging, and we are on site making sure the systems is built correctly. This way the system is built correctly, right from the start. No "I've seen this on the internet" and making serious mistakes. If we have built the reedbed then we can be responsible for it. If the reedbed is designed or built by others, then it is for them to be responsible for it.
Often customers have some materials, maybe a digger and driver, maybe stone or soil. There is no point to buying new, when materials and diggers, good enough for the reedbed are available.
** I would provide the reed plants. It is vital to get the right plants, in the right quantities and quality. I can bring these, or have them delivered, but at cost price only.
The advantages of Consultancy Fees only, is where a customer needs a 100m2 reedbed, or more. My price for 100m2 is £9000, in the ground and working. Clearly with fees of £3000, there are savings to be made. And my full price of £9000 is half or less of what others charge for their reedbeds, or alternative treatment tank based systems.
